Enter the Oasis with Ready Player One
My friends and I had the opportunity to embark on a choose-your-own-adventure at the Ready Player One Challenge in Hollywood. Before I share my experience with you all, I want to briefly talk about what Ready Player One is. This challenge is based on a movie adaption of a book called, Ready Player One. This movie is directed by Steven Spielberg and originally written by Ernest Cline about a world of pop culture references all the way from the 80's to futuristic video game immersion experience.
Onwards to the challenge. My group of friends and I was escorted to a VIP area hosted by iHeartRadio and served complimentary snacks as well as drinks to the guests. We were instructed to find the three keys and enjoy the experience produced by Experiential Supply Co. (the same team that produced The “IT” Experience : Neibolt House Hollywood). Shortly, my group entered from the back of a van and started to look for clues. Upon entering each room, the waves of nostalgia hit me and I was more focused on identifying each piece of childhood memorabilia rather than the challenge itself. The rest was a magical experience that took us by series of interactive puzzles and live actors.
In conclusion, the beautifully re-created “set” environments, immersive in-world moments, live actors, authentic film props, and early access to film content, really provided an once in a lifetime experience for anyone who stepped into the oasis. Not to mention, this experience is further enhanced by character audio/video and a film-inspired playlist, powered by Hot Topic.
