Foodie Con 2019

When I went to Foodie Con, I expected to fill my mind with great awareness of responsible food decision and my stomach with tons of free samples. What I got was much more, the experience of meeting business owners and food lovers who take the products seriously. There was a light and jolly disposition simmering in the air of every section of the event. From the VIP section of folks enjoy hard Kombucha from KYLA in a giant pool float and the massage service to the cooking classes, I knew I was in food heaven. Several people i met there suggested I tried the butter sample from the MIYOKO’S booth. I did, again and again, until I found myself in the beer garden being introduced to PARTIDA Tequila.

Right outside the bar was a booth for Magic Bullet, a hangover prevention drink that contained grape seed extract, N-Acetyl Cysteine and Tumeric, all ingredients alone used to help prevent hangovers. They promised their products contains the necessary items to target your brain and body to work at its optimal, activating your own antioxidants. I really liked the packaging and it was delicious. In fact pretty much everything I tasted was delicious. Who knew products without unhealthy and over-hyped ingredients would not compromise on flavor or freshness and the fact that most of these products are made and sold locally. I met company called Beinmar foods that had a wonderful drink called Sorrel that mixed hibiscus with ginger that sent my taste buds to the moon. Unfortunately they have no store location, but offer pop up shops in the Pasadena area, which is not far from me. It was time for me to go but there was no way I was leaving without hitting up the food court and its diverse offerings of nachos. The only part I did not like about Foodie Con this year is that it was at about 80% of what it was last year and nobody was on the silent disco floor shaking what their mothers gave 'em! Overall, it was a fantastic experience and a great opportunity. I left uplifted, full and looking forward to next year. For more information on Foodie Con check out foodiecon.org.
